Turning the page on youth homelessness in the GTA through education and empowerment.
OUR MISSION
We're a not-for-profit initiative proudly backed by Calumet and Stong Colleges, along with the Faculty of Health at York University as an Agents of Change project. We are passionately committed to transforming the lives of homeless youth in the Great Toronto Area (GTA). By providing targeted donations and skill-building workshops, we aim not merely to assist but to ignite potential. That's why we've named our organization Potentia, a Latin term signifying 'power' and 'ability,' because we believe every youth has the inherent power to shape their own destiny. In a world full of challenges, we're here to show these youth that opportunities and brighter futures are within their reach.
Impact by the Numbers
Career-Oriented Workshops
In partnership with York University’s Career Centre, we aim to provide their valuable workshops to the youth we support. These workshops include Personality and Career Choice Webinar, Interview Preparation, Resumé & Cover Letter Writing, How to Effectively Use LinkedIn, etc.
Transportation Donations
The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) heavily relies on public transportation for travel. Our initiative acknowledges the importance of providing TTC and YRT tickets to youths dealing with unstable housing situations. Through fundraising, we secure transportation ticket bundles, offering crucial mobility across the region. Your support directly aids these individuals in overcoming transportation barriers, enabling easier access to essential resources and engagements despite housing uncertainties. Your donation can make a significant impact!
Clothing & Backpack Donations
Some of the most needed items by the youth shelters are professional attire such as button-ups, plain shirts, trousers, etc. As well as backpacks and duffle bags. Our organization appreciates all good quality clothing & bag donations, which will be neatly packaged and delivered to our partnered shelters.
“Always have a willing hand to help someone, you might be the only one that does.”
